Floor Plan Profile: McKenzie
June 18, 2021
The McKenzie floor plan is the kind of home design that appeals to a range of potential buyers. It has the kind of space that fits most needs and lifestyles, plus, with all of the options available, it can easily become one of the truly unique homes in Battle Ground WA. That’s just the start of how this adaptable home design understands today’s lifestyles.
At heart, the McKenzie is a three bedroom, two bathroom, two-car garage home with 1,910 square feet. That’s already an ideal home for a number of people, ranging from young families to empty nesters. Technically a one story home, there is a partial second floor with the options to create a loft and bedroom and bathroom or a bonus room. The bulk of the living area, though, is on the first floor, offering greater convenience, while still also offering privacy between the bedrooms.
Starting with the exterior elevations, this home is full of architectural details that set it apart from cookie-cutter homes. Outside, there’s a beautiful mix of stone and siding in different styles and color choices, plus a welcoming covered front porch. As you enter the home, you’re greeted by a spacious entry foyer that has a side niche opening that leads to one of the bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as the spacious laundry room and a closet that is ideal for coats, boots and other odds and ends, while keeping everything out of sight. The small hallway off the entry gives this bedroom area its own privacy, something that older kids often appreciate.
The foyer then turns into a coffered-ceiling hallway that takes you past the den, ideal as a home office, which can also be closed off and turned into an additional bedroom. Across from the den, on the other side of the hallway, is a dropzone entrance from the garage, complete with another closet that is perfect for coats, boots, or cleaning supplies. This dropzone is also convenient for bringing groceries into the kitchen from the garage, as the kitchen is located just past this area.
The coffered hallway ends up in the open-plan part of the McKenzie, specifically in the aptly named great room, complete with coffered ceiling, and the spacious kitchen with a wonderful kitchen island that can serve a variety of purposes for both cooking and entertaining. The kitchen also includes a walk-in pantry, which is a feature that many people are looking for in a home these days. Off the kitchen is the dining area, set back from the great room for extra definition of space. The dining room also features sliding glass doors that lead out into the covered back patio. This is a great setup for summertime entertaining, letting you set the food up in the dining room to keep it cooler and protected, but still within easy reach of the guests on the patio.
Finally, off the other side of the dining room is the owner’s suite, complete with ensuite bathroom featuring a dual-sink vanity and a linen closet for convenient storage. The bathroom then leads into the large walk-in closet.
If you choose the partial second story, you have even more space to enjoy, whether as a rec room, a home office, a game room for the kids, or an additional bedroom and loft area, or whatever fits your lifestyle. We always include a range of options that let you fine tune your home to make it truly comfortable and right for you and your family. From extra windows to extra rooms, our homes in Battle Ground WA and throughout the PNW are designed to flow smoothly with your lifestyle, making each home, be it the McKenzie or one of our other designs, a true joy to live in every day.
