If you’re in the market for a new home, consider one of our Port Orchard WA homes at McCormick Trails community. Our new model home is opening this month and is a great way to learn more about the kinds of customizable homes we sell, as well as the perks that include plenty of greenery, interconnecting trails, and the award-winning private McCormick Woods Golf Club. There’s a lot to enjoy within the community and in Port Orchard itself.

The Western Washington Center for the Arts, located in a historic building along the Port Orchard Waterfront dates to 1918, but was renovated in 2002. The center promotes theater and performing arts in Kitsap County and hosts a variety of shows, workshops, classes, and marquee performances.

A fun way for all ages to learn about Kitsap County history is through the Sidney Gallery and Museum, a National and State Historic Site. Originally built as a Masonic lodge in the late 19th century, it was purchased by the Sidney Museum and Arts Association in 1972. It now features exhibits about the early history of the county and includes replicas of a general store, doctor’s office, school room, and hardware store.

Further down Sidney Avenue is the Log Cabin Museum owned by the Sidney Gallery and Museum. The cabin was constructed in 1914 by a Civil War veteran and retired Indian Agent. Rescued from demotion by the Sidney Museum, it has been restored to its current historic splendor with a family of mannequins known as “The Orchard Family“. Visitors can see how life would have been during the turn of the 20th century. The cabin is open from May through September.

Of course, there’s no shortage of parks to enjoy. Manchester State Park, Howe Farm Park, and Long Lake State Park are all popular locations. Manchester State Park is a gateway to the Puget Sound and features more than two miles of trails and a beautiful, saltwater shoreline, where you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and diving. Howe Farm Park is a historic farm with walking trails and an off-leash dog park. There are remains of the historic Howe and McPherson family homesteads, including a barn that is still structurally sound. Picnic shelters, trails, and additional restrooms are being added as part of the ongoing renovation. The 27-acre Long Lake State Park features fishing, volleyball, picnicking, swimming, and boating. In addition, there’s a baseball field, restrooms, life-jacket kiosks, and a community building with a kitchen, private bathrooms, and seating for 70 available for rent, ideal for a variety of events.

Of course, you’ll find plenty of great dining and a wealth of other shopping and entertainment in Port Orchard, plus all of the wonderful natural beauty. If you’re considering purchasing one of the Port Orchard WA homes, we invite you to come visit our new model home at McCormick Trails, which opens April 15, and feel free to contact us to learn more about our range of home designs and lots available.
