With single-level and two-story home plans, a community park, and homes ranging from 1,400 to 2,400 sq. ft, and starting in the $600s, this is a community that could be ideal for you. Plus, as you get to know more about Beaverton, you’ll be even more interested in calling Scholls Heights home.

Beaverton is a popular place to move to, thanks to its beautiful scenery and fun-loving atmosphere. Visitors soon find themselves imagining settling down here quite easily. Although originally known as Beaverdam, and with the primary industries being a grist mill and saw mill, the area grew and became more populous in the late 1800s, when it was eventually renamed Beaverton and became an incorporated city with a massive population of 400! Of course, since then, the population has truly boomed and there are now roughly 100,000 residents in this scenic suburb of Portland. It is the second-largest city in Washington County, sixth-largest city in Oregon, and Money magazine even put it in 12th place in recent years as one of the best places to live.

The job industry has changed, too, from mills to miles run, as in Nike headquarters calls Beaverton home. They have a gigantic 286-acre campus with more than 75 buildings, including  product development centers, and much more and are obviously a major employer in the area. There are other major techncompanies in the area, making it known as Silicon Forest, so plenty of people are moving here for the potential job opportunities.

To get a company like Nike to make their headquarters in Beaverton, there obviously has to be a lot going for the city to draw such a big company. In fact, there’s plenty to do, whether you live an outdoor, active lifestyle, or prefer to explore great dining options. Just as in pretty much all of Oregon, you’ll never be short on things to do outside, from hiking and biking to simply walking trails to enjoy the exceptional local scenery.

Tryon Creek State Park Natural Area is popular with all ages, thanks to great hiking, scenic bridges, and a boardwalk. It’s also a common spot for school field trips covering a variety of topics and activities. Another popular location is Forest Park, located in the Tualatin Mountains along the Willamette River. This 5,000-acre area is the largest urban forest reserve in the United States with more than 70 miles of trails and unforgettable views of Beaverton as well as Portland.

After all of that outdoor activity, you’ve earned a great meal and it’s no surprise that being as close to Portland as Beaverton is, the food scene is pretty appealing. If you’re looking for a classic hearty breakfast to fill you up for a day out, don’t miss Elmer’s Restaurant. Another American food classic is the Black Bear Diner, complete with carving stations, chicken fried steak, and so much more. On the other hand, if you’re feeling a bit more continental, head to La Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie. You may have guessed that they offer baked goods and probably serve breakfast, but this charming French cafe also serves delicious lunch and dinner offerings.

Beaverton has some of the safest neighborhoods in the state, and the new Scholls Heights is sure to fall in that category. On top of everything else, Beaverton has excellent public schools that are among the top ranked, especially the high schools. If you have children interested in math, technology and more, you’re going to love that Beaverton is home to the number one ranked high school, the School of Science and Technology.

With so much going for it, it’s easy to understand why people are drawn to Beaverton.
