Ridgefield City Council members listen about the construction process of the Gee Creek Trail
RIDGEFIELD, WA – A key link in the City of Ridgefield’s Gee Creek Trail has been completed by Vancouver-based homebuilder Pacific Lifestyle Homes.
The Gee Creek Trail is envisioned to run 3.5 miles along the Gee Creek corridor, connecting Ridgefield High School with the trail system located in the Carty Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. City officials and park advocates see the trail as the City’s “green spine” that will allow residents to see neighbors and access key city locations without using an automobile.
The recently completed section of trail is within the Osprey Pointe neighborhood and was built by Pacific Lifestyle Homes, who also developed the neighborhood. The trail section cost almost a hundred thousand ($100,000.00) dollars and took several months to construct after years of planning and permitting.
“The City is ecstatic to open this section of the Gee Creek Trail after so many years of planning,” said Ridgefield Mayor Ron Onslow. “I look forward to the day when residents can walk the length of Ridgefield through the woods and amongst the wildlife on the Gee Creek Trail.”
The trail opening will be celebrated this Saturday, November 7th at 11:00 am at the trail head located on S. 13th Circle in the Osprey Pointe neighborhood.
The trail segment was completed nearly five years after it was originally required as a condition of the City’s approval for the Osprey Pointe subdivision in December 2004.
“We had previously built some walking paths by the wetland areas in Osprey Pointe,” said Kevin Wann, Pacific Lifestyle Homes President and CEO. “But the Gee Creek Trail section will be different for the residents. It feels so rustic and remote. There’s a large, wood plank bridge that spans a ravine. You almost feel like you in the National Forest when you walk on it.”

Environmental Mitigation: 25 cedar and 25 dogwood trees were planted and must be monitored and maintained for 5 years.

The Building Industry Association (BIA) of Clark County , Washington, announced that Pacific Lifestyle Homes has been honored with two of the association’s Building Excellence Awards in two separate categories.
The first award was in the category of New Homes Under $300,000 and recognized the company’s “Melody” floor plan in the Meriwether neighborhood located in Woodland, Washington. The 2,707-square-foot, two-story plan was designed by the Myhre Group and features four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a loft area, and formal living and dining rooms. The home was honored for its smartly designed and efficient floor plan. The home has many quality upgraded finishes that are not typically included in a home priced at $254,900.
