This Year’s Fall Home Decor Trends

If you’ve purchased one of our new homes in Puget Sound WA and are preparing to choose the decor elements, you might want to take a closer look at the trends showing up right now. If you’re thinking about buying one of our custom homes, imagine how much fun you could have choosing all of the wall colors, flooring, and other finishes and features to match your personal tastes. Fortunately, this fall’s trends feature a number of colors and finishes that have a timeless quality so they should look good next fall, as well.

The overall theme this fall is natural colors and fibres and a sense of soft coziness. That doesn’t mean it’s all beige and brown, though. Plenty of terracotta, orange, yellow, green and blue are making an appearance, as well. In fact, the neutrals are cream, ivory and blush that provide you with a softer starting palette that takes the edge off of pure white, but still goes so well with a variety of accessory colors. These neutrals are excellent for walls, allowing you to add in more color with furniture and decorations.

For example, in the living room, a creamy color on the walls, with a deep brown leather sofa and plenty of throw pillows in terracotta, orange, and even an almost mustard yellow, create a room that is cozy but bright, and great throughout the year. For the fall, add in some chunky-knit throws in a deep forest green, a dark navy blue, or a soft blush.

Natural fibres and materials are popular this fall and have been showing up much of this year. Look for sisal rugs topped with smaller fluffy faux sheepskin rugs for a comfortable blend. Look for rattan or wicker coffee and side tables or even side chairs. Think about a luxe blend of rattan chair with velvet covering in a terracotta or forest green color for a cozy pop of color and to update both materials. If nothing else, consider a macrame wall hanging for one of your rooms. You could always make your own if you’re looking for a new hobby, but there are plenty of great ones in beautiful natural fibers that will add a nice touch to any room.

Finish off your fall decor with some fall-themed candles, whether it’s color, scent or both! Arrange them with some brushed brass or gold decorative pieces, such as trays or lanterns for an elegant display. If you prefer something more rustic, add some vintage baskets to your gallery wall for a new twist on a classic style.
