Team Member Profile: Ann Nagel

We think it always helps to know a bit about each other as we embark on the important process of building your new home. We take our role as a home builder in Vancouver WA seriously, but also want to make the experience as smooth and positive as possible. That’s why we like to introduce you to our staff, even if you may not be working with them directly. By getting to know our work family, you get to know us better and are sure to feel even more confident choosing us, as we become familiar faces. This month we want to introduce you to one of our newest team members, Ann Nagel.

Having just joined us in July, Ann works as an  HR Coordinator. She has a lot on her hands, as her job includes assisting with general HR duties, New Hire orientations, benefits enrollment, maintaining employee records, coordinating events, and some office duties. She also works on our wellness program and works with our IT team to help get new employees set up, as well as keep our technology running smoothly.

As she explains, “It’s a little too early to tell,” what her typical day at work will be as she’s still settling in, but we’re sure her experience will serve her well. “I worked for Hitachi Consulting for the last 8 years in an administrative and HR capacity.  I have also worked for a few high-tech start-ups in the Bay Area.”

In fact, she’s originally from San Diego, California, and moved to San Francisco when she started college at SFSU where she graduated with a liberal arts degree. It was after graduation that she worked with some of the start-ups, but that didn’t stop her from also following her passion for singing. “After graduating I worked for a couple start-ups while also singing with a 10-piece funk R&B band.  I enjoy singing to this day and was in a local band, called The HiJinx Band alongside my bass playing, long-time boyfriend, up until the end of 2019.”

With that kind of background, it also doesn’t come as quite as much of a surprise that she was mistaken for another famous singer. “When I was younger, I was mistaken for Britney Spears by a star-struck, thirteen year old girl.” Now she has two teenagers of her own, along with a guinea pig named Chunk Norris and a Blue Heeler, Oscar. “All of my immediate family have also moved to Vancouver.”

With a sense of humor and a groove in her step, we think she’s going to be a great asset to our team. Plus, we like her approach to her job. “I enjoy helping and working with people. I like finding better ways to accomplish tasks and duties through creating new or different processes that make sense for the company and save time and resources.” It’s pretty obvious why we hired her!
