Today two local schools are named for the leaders in the battle that never took place: Captain Strong Elementary School and Chief Umtuch Middle School.

Thankfully the area is now known more for its natural beauty than its history. Numerous parks and nature preserves are within a few miles of the Cedar Heights community in Battle Ground. Battle Ground Lake State Park is a great getaway for camping, water sports, hiking and biking. It also has facilities for equestrian camping and riding. Other parks and recreational sites in the area include Salmon Creek Greenway Trail, Salmon-Morgan Creek Natural Area and Groth Nature Preserve Walk. Nature enthusiasts might also enjoy visiting Wildlife Botanical Gardens. This unique site demonstrates how homeowners can landscape their property to attract wildlife.
