It’s hard to admit that you may have a messy garage, but if you are one of those individuals then it’s time to get organized! Since the weather is still warm, it will be the best time to get things sorted and organized. Once winter hits, then you will have all the excuses not to clean up your garage.
One of the main reasons why garages can get so disorganized is that it is not your constant living space. You park you car and you go into your home, and may even sometimes do a few projects in the space. But the purpose to getting your life organized is to have your living environment to represent the same tone, even if it’s just the garage that collects dust throughout the year. You’d be surprised what a big difference it’ll make in your life. Here are some helpful tips to get you started.
Keep your things to a minimal
It’s easy to accumulate stuff in your garage because of all the extra space you have. But just like you wouldn’t keep unnecessary things in your bedroom, you shouldn’t keep things you don’t ever use in the garage as well. If you haven’t touched the item in a full year, then it’s either time to donate, resell, recycle or dump it into the garbage bin.
Set up shelves, bins and label them to organize your items
When you have storage units to put away things at the end of the day, it will make life just a whole lot easier. It’s easy to dump things around when you have no place to put them, but once you have bins, cupboards and shelves to have a place for your things there will be less excuses as to not knowing where to put them at the end of the day. Make sure to organize your space properly as to what goes where, and put labels on each area to keep up the habit by putting things back in it’s place at the end of the day.
Don’t leave it on the ground
It’s easy to leave brooms, shovels and gardening tools on the ground. But you will find that hanging them on hooks will give your garage a superb neat look. If you have children, then even kids bikes and baby strollers can be hung on a rack to leave the ground free from stuff. Other than the neat look it provides, it’s the best way for you to sweep up the garage floor without missing areas blocked by the stuff on the ground. So not only will you have a neat garage, it will be a clean one too.
